Combined Safety Training Ltd carry out IPAF training in conjunction with Unity Operators Ltd and Davis Access Ltd who are IPAF training centres. Our experienced IPAF instructor has nearly twenty years of experience in operating and delivering powered access bringing a wealth of practical knowledge to the training.

 

Unity Operators are the training centre we train through and they offer the following courses.

Presently due to Corona virus restrictions we are using the IPAF e-learning for the theory part of the training, this keeps you and our training centre staff safe from being in a confined classroom environment. IPAF 3a Operator Training

This IPAF operator course is for users of ‘Mobile Vertical’ machines (commonly known as Scissor Lifts). These machines are driven in to the work location and will elevate without the need for legs. These machines can be driven whilst elevated.

  • How to prepare and safely use mobile vertical machines, (scissor lifts).
     

  • Understanding of the employer and employee responsibilities, the regulations and standards involving MEWP usage.
     

  • We will train you in the correct operation of the equipment.
     

  • We will show you how to carry out pre-use inspection and familiarisation of the equipment.
     

  • We will make sure you know the emergency decent operations of the machine.

COURSE COVERS

As the assembly and use of MEWPs can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights/vertigo, giddiness/difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.

 

If you have any problems with literacy or language comprehension, or have any doubts about your fitness to use MEWPs, you must bring them to the attention of your employer. This need not preclude you from using MEWPs, provided your employer conducts an assessment and is able to put into place adequate measures to take account of any difficulties you may have.

IPAF 3b Operator Training

This IPAF operator course is for the users of ‘Mobile Boom’ machines (commonly known as Cherry Pickers). This machine is driven to it’s place of work, will elevate without the use of legs and can also be driven whilst elevated.

COURSE COVERS

  • How to prepare and safely use mobile boom machines, you will be trained on one of the following machines.
     

  • Mast boom, articulated boom or stick boom Understanding of the employer and employee responsibilities, the regulations and standards involving MEWP usage.
     

  • We will train you in the correct operation of the equipment We will show you how to carry out pre-use inspection and familiarisation of the equipment.
     

  • We will make sure you know the emergency decent operations of the machine.

IPAF 1b Operator Training

This IPAF operator course is for the users of ‘Static Boom’ machines. These machines are driven or pushed into their work location and will elevate once the legs have been deployed. Due to this being a boom type, the machine will have a telescopic and turning function.

COURSE COVERS

  • How to prepare and safely use various types of powered access machines including one of the following, spider lifts, towable booms, versa lifts and truck mounted booms.
     

  • Understanding of the employer and employee responsibilities, the regulations and standards involving MEWP usage.
     

  • We will train you in the correct operation of the equipment.
     

  • We will show you how to carry out pre-use inspection and familiarisation of the equipment.
     

  • We will make sure you know the emergency decent operations of the machine.

IPAF PAV Training

This half day course is for the users of machines which are pushed into position and only travel in the vertical plane.

  • Understanding of the employer and employee responsibilities, the regulations and standards involving MEWP usage.
     

  • We will train you in the correct operation of the equipment.
     

  • We will show you how to carry out pre-use inspection and familiarisation of the equipment.
     

  • We will make sure you know the emergency decent operations of the machine.

IPAF Harness Training

This half day course is to instruct the users of harnesses within MEWP’s including inspection, correct selection and fitting.

COURSE COVERS

  • How to inspect and safely use full body harnesses c/w short adjustable restraint lanyards.
     

  • Understanding of the employer and employee responsibilities, the regulations and standards involving harness usage.
     

  • We will train you in the correct operation of the equipment.
     

  • We will show you how to carry out pre-use inspection and familiarisation of the equipment.
     

  • We will make sure you know the requirement to record harness use and perform daily and annual inspections/certification.

WHO CAN ATTEND

As the assembly and use of MEWPs can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights/vertigo, giddiness/difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.

This is for delivery drivers who are loading and unloading access machinery.

COURSE COVERS

  • How to inspect and safely use restraint chains and ratchet straps etc. for restraining a MEWP on a lorry or trailer.
     

  • How to safely load a lorry or trailer and taking into account, load weight, balance and security of the MEWP.
     

  • Understanding of the employer and employee responsibilities, the regulations and standards involving MEWP delivery/collection.
     

  • We will train you in the correct operation of the equipment.
     

  • We will show you how to carry out risk assessment to ensure the driver and public are kept safe, pre-use inspection and familiarisation of all loading equipment.

WHO CAN ATTEND

As the assembly and use of MEWPs can be physically demanding, users should be physically fit and in good health and should, generally, not have problems with eyesight or hearing, heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, fear of heights/vertigo, giddiness/difficulty with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.

IPAF Demonstrator Training

This course is designed for people who need to demonstrate the control functions and safety features of a MEWP to a trained operator. This training programme has the same machine categories as the operator programme.
