He first worked in the motor trade for twenty years; this was where he first became involved in training. He moved on to plant hire, becoming the first string MEWP operator for Fast Plant Swindon and subsequently Powered access Solutions Ltd. During this time he gained a great deal of experience operating many different types of powered access machines at a varied portfolio of clients from London museums to building sites and brings this experience into his training sessions.
